Federal Interior Ministry initiates an Independent Body of Experts for Islamophobia – Mathias Rohe is among the appointed members
According to a press release from September 1, Federal Minister of Interior Affairs, Horst Seehofer, has appointed 12 members for the newly-established Independent Body of Experts for Islamophobia. Among them Mathias Rohe, Law Professor and Islamic Scientist at the FAU, as well as founding rector of the EZIRE.
The main tasks of the new council was to analyse manifestations of Islamophobia and to identify overlaps with other forms of group-related misanthropy. The reason for the installment of the Independent Body of Experts were the racist and islamophobic incidents of the past months. The aim of the experts’ work should be after approximately 2 years a report with recommendations for actions in the battle against islamophobia a various areas.
